Known commonly as Black Soldier Fly Larvae, Phoenix worms, or "EXTREME" worms, these feeders are the larval state of the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens). They are extremely nutritious for any bug-eating reptile/bird/small animal/fish. BSF larvae are a unique feeder in that they naturally have the perfect calcium to phosphorous ratio of 1.5:1. For this reason these wiggly worms can be a staple in your animal's diet. They are low in fat and contain up to 61 times more calcium than other common feeders. When stored at 50-55F these critters will stay in a larval state for a couple weeks before pupating. They are extremely nutritious as pupas, as well. Some reptile breeders have noted babies which are fed phoenix worms from day one were 30% larger than their clutch mates after just a few weeks. In addition to this, these insects contain recognizable amounts of lauric acid, which is a natural antimicrobial known for treating against some viruses, Clostridium, and pathogenic protozoa (i.e. Coccidia). Black Solider Fly larvae are a highly beneficial part to any insect-eaters diet, whether they have scales, feathers, or fur.

Black soldierfly larvae spend around 2.5 weeks as a larvae, and about 2 weeks as a pupae. They make great feeders during either of these time frames. The bulk 1000 pack can be expected to reach pupation in approximately 2 weeks time given proper conditions.
Black soldierfly larvae pupate after the 6th instar (molting the exoskeleton). To keep your BLS larva alive and not developing rapidly
