Knowing what size of bar spacing is the right fit for your bird can be a challenge! Correct bar spacing is important because inadequate bar spacing can cause to potential injury of your bird or lead to an escaped bird. That's why we have created the following chart to help guide you on your journey of purchasing a new bird cage.

Always know your individual bird
It's always best to keep your induvial bird's needs and personality in mind when considering bar spacing. This list is intended to be used as a general rule of thumb and there will always be exceptions to this list.
For example a more rowdy natured Quaker may require a 3/4" bar spacing instead of a 1/2" spacing if they spend a lot of time putting abuse on their cage. A Madagascar Lovebird will need bar spacing not larger than 1/2". A gold-breasted waxbill cannot have bar spacing larger 3/8" or they will escape. Etcetera...
